Therm-A-Bead is a PVC-u holder featuring a high expansion phosphate based intumescent material, designed to provide a masking effect on the beads with maximum insulation between the glass and the bead.

Timber doors present particular problems in 60 minute applications when using uninsulated glass, due to the high temperature of the glass and the erosion of the door and beads during a fire test. The Therm-A-Bead is a perfect solution for this. To achieve a complete dry glazing system the Therm-A-Bead should be used in conjunction with a Therm-A-Line, a specially formulated intumescent with erosion resistant qualities that seals around the perimeter of the aperature.

Intumescent fire seals are an essential element of a glazing panel in a timber fire door set designed to meet the criteria of BS 476: Parts 20 and 22: 1987. The Therm-A-Bead glazing seal along with a Therm-A-Line has been successfully fire tested to these requirements in two 54mm FD60 timber fire doors – reference TRADA test FR1632 – 14/7/92.

Therm-A-Bead is supplied in 25mm width and in either a white, brown, black or a cream colour, with a self-adhesive tape which make the application process very quick and simple.
